Made from chitosan- a material pulled from the shells of crustaceans- the fibers turn to gel when it comes in contact with moisture, conforming more closely to the skin than other dressings. As a primary dressing, the Opticell Silver will require tape or gauze to keep it in place as it is non-adhesive. It is also latex-free for those with skin sensitivities and comes completely sterile to further promote the best possible healing environment. The silver dressing has a seven-day wear time, meaning it doesn't have to be changed as often, requiring less focus time to heal. This is due to the antimicrobial properties found in the silver, further advancing the healing and decreasing recovery time.
