Monaghan Aerobika Oscillating Positive Expiratory Pressure (OPEP) Therapy System is a Mucus Clearance Device. This PEP therapy device is a hand-held device with a proprietary pressure-oscillation dynamic that provides intermittent resistance and creates positive pressure and oscillations simultaneously. This Aerobika device naturally opens weak or collapsed airways to allow more oxygen intake without the need for medication. The use of Aerobika OPEP improves the ability of a patient to bring up mucus, decreases breathlessness and cough frequency, and increases exercise tolerance, resulting in an enhanced quality of life. Aerobika OPEP is helpful for people who have chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, COPD, and cystic fibrosis and often produce an excessive amount of mucus. The Aerobika device has five resistance settings, allwing users to customize the level of pressure to suit their needs.

Instructions to use OPEP device:

1. Find a comfortable position, either sitting or standing. Ensure your back is straight to allow for deep breathing.
2. Place the mouthpiece of the Aerobika device firmly in your mouth, ensuring a tight seal with your lips. Inhale deeply through and hold the breath for 2 to 3 seconds.
3. Exhale slowly and steadily into the device. Avoid blowing too hard or too fast; the key is to maintain consistent pressure. You should feel vibrations or oscillations as you exhale.
4. Try to exhale for 3 to 4 times longer than the duration for your inhale. Keep your cheeks firm and flat for optimal effectiveness.
5. Repeat this process for 10 to 20 breaths, or as advised by your healthcare provider. Hold off on coughing until you complete 10 breaths, then use a "huff" cough to help clear mucus.
6. Perform the exercise at least twice a day or as often as directed by your healthcare provider.

Cleaning Instructions:

To keep the devices in good condition, follow these cleaning steps:

1. Press tabs to release.
2. Remove the valve cartridge and mouthpiece.
3. Soak for 15 minutes in soapy water, agitate gently, and rinse.
4. Shake out water and dry vertically - or place in the dishwasher in a basket on the top rack after performing cleaning instructions 1 and 2.
5. Reassemble device.
