TheraBite Jaw Motion Rehabilitation System can help in lowering muscular pain by minimizing joint inflammation and preventing muscle weakness during (chemo)radiation in the head and neck area. One of the unique feature of TheraBite system is its ability to follow the naturally curved motion of the jaw. The TheraBite Jaw Mobilizer's curved track guides the mandible (lower jaw) along an anatomically correct path.
TheraBite Jaw Motion Rehab System is a medical device that helps in the rehabilitation of jaw movement and provides treatment for a variety of conditions affecting the jaw and surrounding areas. It is especially useful for people who have trismus, a disorder that causes limited mouth opening or pain when opening the mouth and mandibular hypomobility. Clinically proved to be effective. It is portable and uses repetitive passive motion to stretch the tissues and strengthen weaker muscles and mobilize joints. The average weekly gain in jaw opening is roughly 1-1.5 mm.
TheraBite Jaw Mobilizer is a jaw therapy device that is anatomically correct, effective, portable, and user-controlled. It is long-lasting, lightweight, and comes in adult and pediatric sizes.

TheraBite Therapy:
Numerous clinical trials have demonstrated the effectiveness of the TheraBite system, which is designed to achieve two treatment goals:
1. Increasing the jaw's range of motion
Fibrous scar tissue causes tightening of muscles and joints and requires stretching to realign the collagen fibers. Passive and repetitive stretching can help to lengthen and reform these fibers in an anatomically correct fashion.
Muscles that have suffered from disuse atrophy require strengthening across the full range of motion. Using a passive range of motion exercises, TheraBite can help to increase muscle mass and endurance. The device can also be squeezed gently to provide resistance while closing the mouth to strengthen the muscles.
Joints that are immobilized can undergo degenerative changes in a matter of days. Passive repetitive motion, such as that provided with the TheraBite system, can help to mobilize the temporomandibular joint across its full range of motion via passive motion.
2. Pain reduction
Immobilized joints lead to thickening of the synovial fluid and thinning of cartilage. This stiffening of the joints ultimately leads to inflammation and pain. Passive motion of the joint, such as that provided with the TheraBite system, can activate anti-inflammatory agents that promote joint lubrication and reduce inflammation and pain.
Muscle pain (myofascial pain) is usually caused by inflammation, which creates abnormal pressure on nerves, muscles, and bones. This inflammation process can be corrected through passive motion exercises. Passive motion and stretching with the TheraBite system have been proven to reduce joint and/or muscle pain in as little as two weeks of therapy.

What is trismus?
The lower jaw contains important muscles, joints, and teeth that are required for chewing, speaking, swallowing, and making facial expressions. Trismus can be identified by a reduced capacity to open the mouth or pain when opening the mouth.
Why is trismus a problem?
Trismus can make it difficult to eat, speak, yawn, laugh, or clean one's teeth. These issues can arise at a time when good nutrition and dental hygiene are especially essential to healing. The lack of joint movement can cause inflammation, leading the joint to stiffen and progressively lose function. If not addressed quickly and properly, these hidden disabilities can have a negative impact on recovery, health, and quality of life.
What can be done for trismus?
How can I tell whether I have trismus?
Adults have a 45mm mouth opening on average. Consult your clinician, who can evaluate your mouth opening. Inserting three fingers between the top and lower teeth or dentures is the simplest approach to test for trismus. Jaw mobility is most likely normal if this can be done without pain or discomfort. If you can only move one or two fingers, you may have trismus. TheraBite Range of Motion Scale is an amazing and simple instrument for more precise measurements.
Who can benefit from the Therabite Jaw Motion Rehab System?
Individuals with jaw mobility issues or conditions such as trismus or who have undergone head and neck radiation, people with scarring from head and neck surgery, people with temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), people with muscle disorders, those with joint fixation (ankylosis), joint inflammation (arthritis), trauma (e.g., fractures), stress-induced disorders (e.g., teeth clenching or grinding), stroke patients, burn victims, and others who may benefit from jaw rehabilitation.
