By loading the windlass mechanism, it naturally brings the foot and ankle to a near 90-degree angle, eliminating the "lever effect" and relieving pressure on the apex of the ankle. The night splint features an elastic connector ring that allows for natural flexion of the foot and toes during sleep, returning to the dorsiflexed position when muscles relax.
