A laryngectomy tube is a hollow tube inserted into the trachea (windpipe) following a laryngectomy, which is a surgery to remove the larynx (voice box). The tube allows the patient to breathe and speak. There are two kinds of tubes:  Cuffed tubes have an inflatable cuff that seals the tracheal opening and prevents air from leaking out. Uncuffed tubes: These tubes lack a cuff. Uncuffed tubes are typically used for people who do not have a high risk of aspiration.
