Clinistix Kidney Health Test Kit is a simple and reliable at-home urine test designed to detect abnormalities and monitor kidney health. Early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is crucial, as it typically presents no obvious signs or symptoms. Early management can slow the decline in kidney function and lower the risk of related cardiovascular issues.
Each test strip contains pads for detecting albumin and creatinine in urine. High levels of albumin, a type of protein, can indicate kidney disease and increased cardiovascular risk. Creatinine, a waste product made by muscles, helps ensure accurate protein measurement by indicating urine concentration.
By comparing albumin and creatinine readings, users can assess the significance of their levels and determine if follow-up with a healthcare professional is needed. The Clinistix Kidney Health Test Kit uses the same dry reagent chemistry as professional-use CLINITEK Microalbumin 2 Reagent Strips, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Features:
Before you start the test, gather the materials you will need:
Step 1:
Remove a test strip from the bottle and immediately close the lid tightly.
Step 2:
There are two ways you can apply urine to the test:
Step 3:
Lay the test strip, pads up, on a folded tissue.
Step 4:
Set timer for 50 and 60 seconds.
Step 5:
At 50 seconds after wetting, compare the test strip to the color chart on the albumin bottle label. At 60 seconds after wetting, compare the test strip to the color chart on the creatinine bottle label.
Match the color of each test pad to the color chart for that test (the color chart is found on the side of the bottle).
Step 6:
Record your results in the chart provided in the Instructions for Use (IFU).
Ignore any color change after you have read and recorded your results at 50 and 60 seconds.
Optional:
You can take a photo of your test strip, along with the color chart from the bottle, to consult with your healthcare provider.
Step 8:
Discard your used test strip.

Q1. How do I know if something is wrong with my kidneys?
Some early signs of kidney disease are:
Sometimes people do not feel ill or notice any symptoms when something is wrong with their kidneys. With early chronic kidney disease (CKD), kidney function deteriorates slowly over time. Chronic kidney disease is defined as damage to kidney structure or function for 3 or more months.
Q2. How can an at-home kidney test detect kidney problems?
You can check your kidney function at home with the Clinistix Kidney Health Test Kit. It is a way to screen for the presence of abnormalities in your urine, such as excess amounts of protein.
Q4. Is a kidney infection the same as kidney disease?
No. However, a kidney infection left untreated can cause serious complications such as later-developing kidney disease. A kidney infection may be treated at home with a course of antibiotics. Kidney disease is typically a chronic condition requiring continued medical oversight and maintenance.
Q5. When should I consult my doctor?
If your Clinistix Kidney Health Test Kit indicates abnormal levels of albumin and creatinine, or if you are experiencing any symptoms (as described above), you should consult your healthcare professional for further guidance.
Q6. Is the Clinistix at-home kidney test accurate?
When used correctly, the Clinistix Kidney Health Test Kit can be a fast, accurate, and reliable method for assessing kidney function. Supported by nearly 80 years of innovation and leadership in the field of urinalysis, the new Siemens Healthineers Clinistix portfolio of at-home kidney-function test strips uses the same chemistry as the strips at your doctor's office, so you can feel confident in your results.
Q7. How should the test be stored?
Store the Clinistix Kidney Health Test Kit away from sunlight at room temperature (59–86°F). The cap must be closed tightly every time you remove a strip from the bottle, and the desiccant pack should not be discarded. If you have left the cap off the bottle for an extended time, or if the pads look discolored, please contact customer support.
Q8. How long can I use a Clinistix Kidney Health Test strip once I have removed it from the bottle?
Please use urine strips immediately after removing from the bottle. If you change your mind and decide not to perform a test right away, replace the strip in the bottle and close the cap tightly.
Q9. I prefer to use a clean, dry cup to collect my urine sample. How long should I leave the strip in the sample?
The strip should be dipped into the sample until both pads are wetted. Remove after 1-2 seconds. Do not soak the test pads in the urine sample to avoid dissolving the reagents.
Q10. How should I apply my urine sample to the strip?
You can either hold the strip in your urine stream for 1-2 seconds or collect your urine in a clean cup and dip the strip into the sample. Remember, do not soak the strip. You should not collect a sample from a diaper, sanitary pad, or underwear.
