Indications: AVANOS CORFLO Feeding Tube is for patients needing intermittent or continuous nasogastric/nasoenteric feeding.

Duration of Use: Validated for up to 30 days.

Tube Maintenance

  • Follow hospital protocol or clinician orders.
  • Flush every 4 hours with ≤20 mL water (≤10 mL in infants/children) before/after medications or when feeding stops.
  • Monitor regularly; replace when clinically indicated.

Possible Complications

  • Pneumothorax, GI perforation, aspiration, airway obstruction, tissue irritation/necrosis, allergic reaction, contamination, delayed diagnosis.
  • Medication/nutrition delay or misdose; need for additional procedures.

Weighted CORFLO tubes are MR Conditional:

  • Static field ≤3 Tesla
  • Spatial gradient ≤720 Gauss/cm
  • Whole-body averaged SAR ≤3.0 W/kg

Warnings

  • Avoid forward leaning or neck extension during insertion.
  • Pre-measure length; do not over-insert (risk of kinking/occlusion).
  • Coughing or resistance may indicate tracheal placement — remove the tube immediately.
  • Always confirm gastric placement before use.
  • Never reinsert the stylet while the tube is in the patient.
  • Do not use excessive syringe force.

Note: Crush medications finely and dilute thoroughly (no visible particles) to prevent clogging.
