Covidien Hi-Lo Oral / Nasal Endotracheal Tube meets or exceeds the guidelines of the cuff criteria. Thin cuff conforms to uneven tracheal surfaces to create low pressure seal. Large cuff diameter of 1-1/2 times the average trachea maintains proper low-pressure seal during tracheal expansion and contraction. High cuff compliance lies close to tube when deflated and expands easily without herniation. Allows more efficient visualization of vocal cords during intubation/extubation. Large cuff resting volume together with long length reduces pressure against tracheal tissue. Offers better protection against aspiration. Low intracuff pressure doesn't restrict tracheal tissue blood flow. Reduces chance of tissue damage, even during long-term intubation.
