DermaRite Petrolatum Gauze Dressing is a petrolatum-impregnated fine mesh gauze occlusive dressing. A non-adherent primary dressing keeps the wound moist. Clings to all body shapes and adheres to them. Petrolatum-impregnated gauze was created to solve the issues of desiccation and trauma from wound dressing removal.
During wound healing, the skin surface breaks down and leads to a buildup of necrotic cells that invites bacteria to form over the wound. Petrolatum gauze has a limited pore size that helps prevent rapid evaporation from the wound and prevents absorption by the secondary dressing of ointments and healing creams. This dressing also provides a hydrophilic contact layer that doesn't adhere. This dressing is a form-fitting dressing that is great for various body parts and reduces trauma from dressing removal.
