Indications:

For use with E-Z-EM's Air Contrast Enema Tips during air contrast barium sulfate colon examination. The target patient group for this device is individuals requiring a barium sulfate enema examination. The clinical benefit of the barium sulfate enema examination is the diagnosis of suspected intestinal disorders/diseases. Device is intended to be used by medical professionals trained in the appropriate procedures.

Instructions For Use:

• Prior to inflating the retention cuff on the enema tip, fluoroscopy may be used to visualize the rectum with contrast media to ensure absence of contraindications.
• Attach the Retention Cuff Inflator to the clear tubing on the enema tip assembly and inflate the cuff by squeezing the Retention Cuff Inflator only once.
• Clamp the clear tubing securely. Note: E-Z-EM's Retention Cuff Inflator delivers approximately 100 cc of air to inflate the retention cuff.
• Upon completion of the exam discard the entire device in accordance with all Federal, State and Local regulations (devices are intended for single-use only). Device reuse carries an increased risk of cross-contamination.

Precautions:

• Inflation of the retention cuff should only be performed under fluoroscopic control by a physician or qualified personnel under a physician's supervision.
• E-Z-EM's Retention Cuff Inflator delivers approximately 100 cc of air to inflate the retention cuff. Do not over-inflate.
• Do not unnecessarily move the enema tip and retention cuff once inserted.
• To ensure maximum rectal visualization, the inflated cuff should be deflated immediately after completion of the fluoroscopic phase of the exam, or after the colon is completely filled.
