Key Features of Lunderg Pressure Ulcer Cushion for Bed Sore Prevention:
To help your patient or loved one turn, use the Lunderg Bedsore Pillow as follows:
Step 1 - Talk - Get the full participation of your patient or loved one. Simple encouragement works wonders!
Step 2 - Roll - Turn the patient or loved one to one side as much as possible. You may need to help them, depending on their ability to assist. To make things easier, we recommend you use the Lunderg Bed Assist Rail if you are not using a Hospital bed.
Step 3 - Right Position - Your hands should be on the backside of the cushion, with the curved side facing the patient or loved one.
Step 4 - Place the pillow - Use the curved side to position one end under the shoulder blade and the other under the buttocks.
Step 5 - Rectify if needed - Now is the ideal time to avoid the sacrum or sore area.
Step 6 - Final Roll & Tips from the nurse - Roll the patient or loved one back onto the cushion. The non-slip pillowcase will keep the cushion from slipping, but it is recommended that you hold it. Finally, verify with your hand that the pillow is not putting pressure on the wounds or bedsores. If the patient or loved one is still uncomfortable after the final roll, change the slope again.
