Key Features:
Controlled Working Time: Water-activated resin lets you adjust working time for precise application.
Quick Strength: Achieves high strength quickly, supporting weight-bearing within 20 minutes.
Durable and Lightweight: Provides a strong, long-lasting cast that is also lightweight for better mobility.
Comfortable Fit: Stretches to conform to body contours, offering a better fit and increased comfort.
Breathable: Porous weave allows skin to breathe, reducing discomfort and potential for skin issues.
Latex-Free: Safe for patients with latex allergies, as it is not made with natural rubber latex.
Indications: This casting tape is suitable for most common orthopedic casts, as well as specialized prosthetics and orthotic devices. It should be used under the guidance of a qualified medical professional.
Instructions for Use:
Preparation: Cover the affected area with one or two layers of stockinet and/or McKesson cast padding. Use additional padding for extra protection if needed.
Glove Use: Always wear gloves while handling the tape to prevent resin transfer.
Tape Selection: Choose the desired width and open only one roll at a time to avoid premature hardening.
Water Immersion: Submerge the roll in room temperature water (70-75°F). Squeeze three times for a 3-minute set time, or avoid squeezing for a 4-minute set time. Adjust water temperature to modify set time as needed.
Application: Wrap the tape spirally, overlapping each turn by one-half to two-thirds of the tape width. Use slight tension to ensure a snug fit.
Layering: Apply three to four layers for a non-weight-bearing cast and five to eight layers for a weight-bearing cast. Additional layers are generally unnecessary and may reduce porosity.
Smoothing: Smooth and rub the tape to ensure good contact between layers, and mold the cast as needed within the first few minutes.
Setting: The cast will become rigid enough to prevent further molding after about 3-4 minutes.
Weight-Bearing: Allow 20 minutes before applying weight to the cast.
Additional Support: Walking heels, cast shoes, and bracing devices can be used with the cast.
Modification: If necessary, additional layers can be applied to a hardened cast for therapeutic adjustments.
