Mepilex Border Post-Op Ag Antimicrobial Dressing

Mepilex Border Post-Op Ag Antimicrobial Dressing is composed of many layers, including an absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing a silver compound and activated carbon, a layer of super absorbent polyacrylate fibers, a nonwoven, and a vapour permeable waterproof film. It is an all-in-one post-operative dressing that effectively absorbs and retains surgical exudates. After 30 minutes, the impregnated silver sulphate particles produce an antibacterial effect that reduces bioburden by killing 99.9% of a variety of bacteria for up to seven days. The Safetac interface reduces painful wounds and peri-wound skin damage during dressing removal by sealing the wound margins, preventing exudate leakage into surrounding skin and reducing the risk of maceration. The flex-cut pad provides exceptional flexibility and excellent conformability over joints.

Dressing material content: Polyurethane, silicone, polyacrylate, cotton, viscose, polyester, polyolefin, silver sulfate which equals to 1.2 mg/cm2 silver.

Indications:

• It is intended for acute wounds, such as surgical wounds, cuts and abrasions.
• Can also be used under compression bandaging.
• It is optimised for post-op use and blood absorption.

Directions to use:

1. Cleanse the wound with saline solution or water according to standard clinical practice.
2. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
3. Ensure the wound pad overlaps the wound by at least 1-2 cm to protect surrounding skin from maceration and to secure the dressing.
4. If the dressing has one release film, remove it partly or fully. If it has two release films, remove the smaller film first, then remove the larger one partly or completely.
5. Place the adherent side onto the wound for initial fixation. If needed, gently peel off the remaining release film while smoothing the dressing with the other hand to prevent wrinkles. Do not stretch the dressing during application.
6. Hold the application frame and tear along the perforation.
7. Carefully remove the application frame and smooth the dressing edges to avoid wrinkles and ensure secure fixation.
