Mepore Transparent Film Dressing

Molnlycke Mepore Film is a sterile, thin, transparent film dressing with a gentle, skin-friendly adhesive. It helps maintain a moist wound environment and with its high vapor permeability allows excess moisture to escape from the wound and surrounding skin. It can be used as a primary dressing on clean, non-exuding wounds and abrasions for preventing skin breakdown, or as a secondary dressing. The dressing protects the wound surface, maintains moist healing conditions and provides a barrier against leakage and bacteria.

Film consists of:

• A transparent polyurethane film coated with a solvent-based polyacrylic adhesive. The adhesive area is covered with a printed release liner.
• An application frame and tabs of siliconised paper.

Dressing Composition: Dressing material content includes acrylic adhesive and polyurethane film.

Indications:

• Intended for protection of intact skin and superficial wounds.
• Can also be used for fixation of medical devices such as wound dressings, tubes and cannulas.

Directions to use: Film can be used by lay persons under supervision of health care professionals.

1. Cleanse the area of application in accordance to clinical practice, dry thoroughly. To ensure proper adhesion, do not use moisturizers on the skin covered by the dressing.
2. Choose a dressing size that overlap at least 1-2 cm beyond the wound area or medical device to allow for proper adhesion to dry healthy skin.
3. Remove the printed release liner and apply the sticky side to the skin without stretching the dressing.
4. Remove the paper frames and tear off the two white tabs. Gently press the product to ensure proper adhesion to the skin.
5. Upon removal grasp the edge and slowly peel the dressing from the skin in the direction of hair growth.

Ensure Mepore Film is not applied under tension to avoid shear and potential skin damage. When applying over joints, position the dressing so it does not restrict movement. Change the dressing if it begins to loosen, becomes damaged, or as guided by clinical practice.

Precautions:

• Do not use on patients with known hypersensitivity to acrylic adhesives or any component of the product.
• Use caution on fragile skin, as irritation may occur.
• Do not stretch the dressing during application to avoid blistering.
• Not a substitute for sutures or other primary wound closure methods.
• If signs of infection appear, such as redness, warmth, swelling, or fever, consult a healthcare professional.
• Do not reuse, reuse may reduce performance and increase risk of contamination.
• Do not re-sterilize.

Warning: Do not use Mepore Film for fixation of life saving devices other than the ones mentioned in the intended use.
