Exufiber Gelling. Fiber Dressing is a sterile nonwoven dressing composed of very absorbent polyvinyl alcohol fibers. When in contact with wound exudate, the dressing converts into a gel that promotes moist wound healing and ease of removal during dressing changes. It comes in both sheets and ribbons and has a high absorption and retention capability. Hydrolock technology seals in fluid, lowering the danger of leakage and maceration, while its high tensile strength allows for one-piece dressing removal and eliminates the possibility of residue and fibers remaining in the wound.
When seen under a microscope, Exufiber is packed with firmly entangled fibers that reduce the free space for fluid or exudate to flow, hence improving the overall dressing's integrity. The final result is high tensile strength for simple removal and enhanced fluid retention, which reduces the danger of leaks and maceration.
