- Designed to be comfortable for the patient
- Accommodates use of sequential compression devices
- Heel pressure injury:
- Second most common location for pressure ulcers in adults
- Can lead to osteomyelitis and limb amputation
- Risk factors for heel pressure ulcer development:
- Diabetes mellitus
- Vascular disease
- Immobility
- Braden Scale score of 18 or less
- Off-loading devices:
- International guidelines recommend complete heel lift from the bed
- Mölnlycke Z-Flex Fluidized Heel Boot:
- Lifts the heel while being comfortable and easy to use
- Combines fluidized positioner with a single low-pressure air chamber
- Fluidized positioner supports and protects the Achilles tendon
- Air chamber redistributes pressure to the whole lower leg
- Features of the Molnlycke Z-Flex Heel Protection Boot:
- Not made from natural rubber latex or DEHP
- Accommodates use of sequential compression devices
- Thermal regulating material keeps legs comfortable
- Adjustable shin straps for various leg sizes
- Built-in gate allows skin assessment without boot removal
- For single patient use but can travel with the patient across care continuum
