INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Osmolite requires proper handling as it can support microbial growth, like all medical nutrition products. Follow hygienic preparation techniques and setup procedures to ensure safe administration and reduce contamination risk.

NOTE: Failure to follow proper instructions may increase the risk of microbial contamination and reduce hang time stability.

• Administer at room temperature for best results.
• Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water before handling containers or feeding sets.
• Shake the container vigorously in a twisting motion for at least 10 seconds before use.
• Avoid touching any part of the feeding system that comes in contact with the formula.
• Follow the physician’s instructions for flow rate and feeding volume as per the patient’s condition.
• Meet additional hydration needs with water between or after feedings or during tube flushes.

For Use with Enteral Feeding Pumps:

• Remove the dust cover from the RTH Safety Screw Cap.
• Detach the dust cover from the feeding set connector.
• Insert the feeding set connector into the RTH Safety Screw Cap port and fully pierce the foil seal.
• Tighten the connector collar securely by turning clockwise.
• Close the clamp before inverting the container.
• Invert the container and hang it using the provided ring for the feeding setup.

Precautions

• Always follow the feeding set manufacturer’s usage guidelines.
• When using the clean technique and a single new set, hang time can extend up to 48 hours; otherwise, do not exceed 24 hours.

Important Notes

• Not for intravenous (IV) use.
• Not suitable for individuals with galactosemia.
