Smith & Nephew Pico 7 dressing provides suction also known as negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) which draws out excess fluid from a wound and protects the incision or helps in wound healing. It is a silicone-based, four-layer dressing design that manages exudate through simultaneous absorption and evaporation, providing greater comfort, reducing the number of dressing changes, and enabling NPWT to be an option for a wider range of patients in all care settings.
Features of Pico 7 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System:
Reduce edema.
No canister is needed.
Improve wound contraction.
Protect against external contamination.
Ease of use with a small, light, and portable design.
It helps to prevent bacteria from entering the wound.
For open and chronic wounds as well as closed incisions.
Low to moderately exuding wounds, up to the seven-day system.
It may also improve blood flow to the wound which will help it to heal.
With two dressings, one pump and pump clip, and secondary fixation strips.
Use uninterrupted for up to 7 days, potentially saving time and money by optimizing dressing changes.
Improved patient experience with a more efficient, ultra-quieter pump and integrated belt clip for full portability.
How does the PICO7 Wound therapy system work?
Pico 7 consists of an NPWT pump connected to an absorbent gentle adhesive dressing.
The pump is battery-operated. The batteries may be changed with two Alkaline AA batteries if required.
The dressing is applied to the wound and extra strips are placed over the outside edge to help hold the dressing in place. When the pump is turned on, the air is pulled out of the dressing and excess fluid from the wound will start to enter the dressing. The dressing helps to prevent bacteria from entering the wound. It may also improve blood flow to the wound which will help it to heal.
When to use PICO?
The easy-to-use PICO System expands the options for applying NPWT to many wound conditions, as well as closed surgical incisions. PICO is appropriate for:
Acute wounds
Chronic wounds
Closed surgical incisions

When to use PICO 7 wound therapy system?
General Activity
Pico 7 wound therapy pump may be carried in user pocket or belt clip; wherever is most comfortable for the user, considering the size and location of the wound. The pump should be carried so that it is accessible to both the user and healthcare professional to check the status routinely.
Sleeping
Make sure that the PICO 7 wound therapy system is placed somewhere safe and cannot be pulled off a table or cabinet onto the floor during sleep
Safety
The PICO pumps contain a Magnet. Keep the PICO pumps at least 4 inches (10 cm) away from other medical devices at all times. As with all electrical equipment, failure to maintain an appropriate distance may disrupt the operation of nearby medical devices.
Washing and showering
Light showering is permissible; however, the pump should be disconnected and placed in a safe location where it will not get wet. While disconnected the dressing should not be exposed to a direct spray or submerged in water. Ensure the end of the tubing attached to the dressing is facing down so that water does not enter the tube.
Travel
Users can travel on an aircraft, train, and boat with your PICO 7 NPWT system. Special care must be taken regarding pump positioning when in close proximity to other people.
During transport, there is a potential for radio frequency interference that could affect PICO 7 NPWT performance. If the PICO 7 pump malfunctions, replace the batteries using the instruction in the Battery section. Please contact your healthcare professional if the malfunction is not corrected.
