The silver calcium alginate material contains 1.5% silver by weight which provides anti-bacterial properties to the dressing. The silver ions protect the dressing from a broad spectrum of bacterial contamination. The dressing can be changed daily, or left on the wound for up to three days. The silver calcium alginate material is made with a high mannuronic acid content. The fluid uptake by the dressing is increased, forming a soft gel. The dressing is highly absorbent and will absorb large quantities of exudates. The silver calcium alginate material is soft and comfortable and easily conforms to the shape of the wound bed.
