FlexiCol Thin Hydrocolloid Dressing is designed for superior wound management. With its advanced design, the FlexiCol dressing conforms effortlessly to the body's difficult-to-dress contours, ensuring a comfortable fit and effective coverage. A standout feature is the dressing's ability to form a gel on contact with wound exudate, which prevents sticking, minimizes pain during dressing changes, and promotes a moist wound environment conducive to healing. The thin, beveled edges of this hydrocolloid dressing are meticulously crafted to reduce the risk of roll-off, ensuring that the dressing stays in place for reliable wound protection. This capability allows the FlexiCol dressing to be an ideal choice for managing light to moderately draining chronic and acute wounds, offering patients and healthcare providers a dependable wound care solution. Made without natural rubber latex, the FlexiCol Hydrocolloid Dressing is a safe option for users with sensitivities or allergies. Instructions for use: FlexiCol is a self-adhesive absorbent hydrocolloid dressing with a gas-permeable polyurethane cover which is impermeable to liquids and bacteria.
Properties and mode of action:
As the hydrocolloid absorbs the wound exudate, a gel is formed, ensuring a moist wound environment. The gel layer prevents FlexiCol from sticking to the wound. Dressing changes do not irritate granulation tissue or epithelial tissue and causes minimal discomfort for the patient. FlexiCol is adhesive. The bevelled hydrocolloid edges ensure good adhesion even in problem areas. The surface of FlexiCol is dirt-repellent and water-repellent, facilitating daily personal hygiene.
Indications:
FlexiCol is indicated for the management of wounds draining light to moderate amounts of exudate. FlexiCol is not indicated for the management of 3rd degree burns or for wounds that extend into muscle, tendon or bone.
How to apply:
- Clean and dry the wound area per protocol prior to application.
- Select the appropriate dressing size and shape according to the wound.
- Remove the larger piece of the protective paper backing.
- Place on the wound holding the dressing by the portion still covered by the protective paper backing.
- When dressing is firmly in place, remove the remaining piece of protective paper and press all edges of the dressing firmly to adhere the dressing.
- The dressing should overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least a half-inch (1-2cm) beyond the wound edge.
How to remove:
- Dressing should be changed when there is visible discoloration of the dressing.
- Lift the dressing at the edges and remove the whole dressing carefully.
- A layer of hydrocolloid gel may remain on the wound that will not impair healing and can be rinsed off if desired.
- The frequency of replacing the dressing depends on the patient's condition and exudate level. Wear time is no more than 7 days.
Special precautions:
FlexiCol can only be effective when a holistic assessment of the patient and the wound has taken place. Treatment with FlexiCol cannot replace treatment of the cause of the impaired healing.
