DIRECTIONS FOR PREPARATION AND USE: Use only under medical supervision. For oral and tube feeding only; not for parenteral use. For infants and young children up to 18 months of age or up to 19.8 lbs (9 kg) with or at risk of growth failure, increased energy requirements and/or fluid restrictions. Clinicians should regularly monitor for adequate nutrient and fluid status by reviewing nutrient intake and needs, anthropometry, tolerance, and micronutrient status.

Storage before opening: Store in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze. Avoid excessive heat and prolonged exposure to light.

DIRECTIONS FOR PREPARATION:

• Wash hands thoroughly and clean preparation area.
• Sterilize feeding bottle and ensure top of carton is clean.
• Shake well before use.
• The formula should be decanted into a sterilized formula bottle. If the infant is being tube fed, the formula can be decanted into a sterilized feeding bag.
• Cap bottle. Feed immediately. Discard unfinished feeds after use

Nutricia directs caregivers to ask the baby’s healthcare team if they need to boil (sterilize) bottles and nipples before use.

Do not boil or use a microwave to warm formula; serious burns may result. Formula must not be rewarmed during feeding.

Storage after opening: Opened individual cartons can be kept in the fridge for maximum 24 hours.

Tube feeding: 4-hour hang time based on using a single-use sterile bag every feeding and not warming formula for tube feeding.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

• Fortini Infant can be started at full strength from day 1 for most infants, and is as well tolerated as standard (20 kcal/fl oz) infant formula.
• Infants less than 12 weeks of age may benefit from a graded introduction to Fortini Infant over three days.
• You might notice some changes in stool frequency and consistency and a slight increase in gas as babies adjust to the prebiotic fiber in Fortini Infant. That’s normal, and should only last a few days.
