Description

Mepilex Heel Dressing is a highly conformable foam dressing that absorbs exudate, keeps the wound moist, and reduces the risk of maceration. The Safetac wound contact layer has a soft silicone adhesive that keeps the dressing from sticking to the wound bed and helps to seal wound margins, protecting the skin from maceration. This relieves patient's pain and prevents stress to the wound and surrounding skin during dressing removal.

Features:

  • Conforms naturally to the shape of the heel.
  • Effectively absorbs exudate.
  • Designed to fit most foot shapes and sizes.
  • Soft, absorbent silicone dressing shaped specifically for heel wounds.
  • Minimizes pain and trauma during dressing changes.
  • Safetac layer prevents adherence to the wound bed.
  • Suitable for use under compression bandaging and with gels.
  • Stays securely in place for easier application of compression or retention bandages.

Dressing consists of:

  • Soft silicone Safetac wound contact layer.
  • Flexible absorbent polyurethane foam pad.
  • Breathable, waterproof polyurethane outer film.

Dressing material content: Silicone, polyurethane.

Indications:

  • Suitable for a wide range of exuding wounds such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers and traumatic wounds, e.g. skin tears and secondary healing wounds.
  • Can be used as a protection of compromised or fragile skin and may also be used as part of a prophylactic therapy to help prevent skin damage, e.g. pressure ulcers.

Directions to use:

  1. Cleanse the wound according to clinical practice.
  2. Thoroughly dry the surrounding skin.
  3. Select the correct size. Ensure a minimum overlap of 1 to 2 cm for smaller sizes (up to 12.5 x 12.5 cm) and 3 to 5 cm for larger sizes to protect surrounding skin and ensure secure fixation. Dressing may be cut to fit various wound shapes and locations.
  4. Remove the first release film and apply the adherent side to the wound.
  5. Remove the remaining release film and smooth the dressing onto the skin without stretching.
  6. When necessary, fixate dressing with a bandage or other fixation.

Precautions:

  • Do not use on patients with known hypersensitivity to any dressing component.
  • Avoid using with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.
  • If signs of infection occur including redness, warmth, swelling, or fever, consult a healthcare professional.
  • Do not resterilise.
