Description

SIMILAC PM 60/40 is a specialized 20 Cal/fl oz infant formula formulated for infants who require reduced mineral intake, particularly those with conditions that affect renal function. This formula is carefully designed to align with the mineral profile of human milk. Use under medical supervision.

Ingredients

Lactose, High Oleic Safflower Oil, Whey Protein Concentrate, Soy Oil, Coconut Oil, Sodium Caseinate. Less than 2% of: Potassium Citrate, Calcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Ascorbic Acid, Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, m-Inositol, Salt, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Mixed Tocopherols, L-Carnitine, Niacinamide, d-Alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Cupric Sulfate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Thiamine Chloride Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Beta-Carotene, Folic Acid, Manganese Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Phylloquinone, Biotin, Sodium Selenate, Vitamin D3, Cyanocobalamin, and Potassium Hydroxide. Instructions for Use: Your baby's health depends on carefully following these directions. Proper hygiene, handling, and storage are important when preparing infant formula. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Ask your baby's doctor if you need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing and if you need to boil (sterilize) utensils, bottles, nipples, and rings before use.

  • Wash your hands, surfaces, and utensils. Pour water into a clean bottle (see mixing guide).
  • Add 1 unpacked level scoop (8.7 g) to each 2 fl oz of water. Return dry scoop to can.
  • Cap bottle; shake well; attach nipple.
  • Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.

Powder Mixing Guide

Measure water + Add scoop(s) of unpacked level powder using the enclosed scoop
2 fl oz   1 scoop (8.7 g)
4 fl oz   2 scoops
6 fl oz   3 scoops

Each scoop adds about 0.2 fl oz to the amount of prepared formula. For larger size mixing instructions

When mixed as directed, the 14.1 oz container makes approximately 102 fl oz of formula.

Storage

  • Once mixed, store bottles or containers in in refrigerator; feed to the baby within 24 hours.
  • Store unopened or opened cans at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Use opened can contents within 1 month.

Precautions

  • Not for IV use.
  • Not for infants with galactosemia.
  • Additional iron should be supplied from other sources.
  • Never use a microwave oven to warm formula. Serious burns can result.
  • It may be necessary to supply low-birth-weight infants weighing less than 1500 g at birth with additional calcium, phosphorus, and sodium during periods of rapid growth.
  • In conditions where the infant is losing abnormal quantities of one or more electrolytes, it may be necessary to supply electrolytes from sources other than the formula.
